The Risks Beyond the Floodplain.
In 2018, western Dane County experienced an unprecedented storm event that caused widespread flooding. Over 90% of the public disaster relief was paid to properties that are located outside the regulated floodplain. This mirrors trends from other Dane County flood events (such as the 2008 floods), and across the nation.
